Swamp Buck Down

Post by ko4nrbs »

He came out of the corn field and was about 20 yards from me. Had to do a quartering shot on him. Arrow was found alongside the buck unbroken but had a torn fletching. Got both lungs but he still ran about 100 yards or so. Had an excellent blood trial. Walked right to him.

Got him to the cart with the sled.

Loaded in cart.

Gear packed in sled with deer in cart underneath. The cart pulled really well all loaded up like this.

Took about 1/2 hour to get to the truck. Easy loading after I put him back in the sled. Backed the truck up into a low spot so the tail gate was about 2 feet off the ground. Pulled the sled right in, easy peasy!!

Was 28 deg F this morning.

I know you put a lot of time and planning into hunting the swamp. It paid off!
Some smart packing strategy there!

Congratulations!

The hard work made the hunt more satisfying. I was happy to see my scouting finds were on target. This secluded little wood lot is heavily traveled by the deer.

Too far off the main road for people. No one likes the 1.5 mile walk to get there. That's why it is secluded and holds deer. I have only seen one other hunter this season and he was in a different area.
