While south of the Medicine Line a short spell ago, I drove from Idaho Falls to south of Salt Lake City.
Along the way I encountered this rather confusing weather incident.
I was in somewhat heavy traffic, so shot the pix through the window of Pa's truck.
Never seen anything like it, and I cannot find anything even remotely close on the net to determine what is was:

It reminds me of the time there were a couple of water spouts near my cottage. Those things are scary! One of them picked up a 30’ sailboat and put it down about 3/4 of a mile away on someone’s cottage lawn!
Whatever it is, there’s plenty of mass to it because there’s a shadow behind it.

Same here, I've seen them also and it looks like a water spout, think of it as a mini tornado that is infused with water, Boos post would attest to that.

Seen water spouts on Lake St Clair like that a few years back. The walleye fishing was excellent that day so we stayed on the water. Just another questionable decision in my life... lol
