Don't own that model, but I do have a Magellan. It's served me well, and I also bought the topo map program for my computer. I can plan routes on the computer & download them to the unit, or take a trip with the GPS then download my route to the computer whe I get home.

I think I paid a little over $100. (USD) for the topo program which included a memory chip to expand the memory of the GPS. It is a pretty detailed program. Has rivers, highways, landmarks, and all that kind of features plus elevations & topo lines. Good for navigating on or off road. I also downloaded about 100 square miles of local area into my Magellan from it, and have a detailed map anywhere near home. If I were to travel, all I would have to do is download the area I'm going to.

Great price. I paid about $150. for the lowest basic model.
Magellans are good units. My brother has had one for a few years.

I have had the Lowrance globalMap 100 for a couple of years now. It to lets you down load map CDs to the unit. Its agreat unit but I still carry an extra set of batteries as well as a map and compass.
