The antlers are coming off

Post by TAC »

Looked out my window a few minutes ago and saw a doe and two yearlings with it.

On the other side of the lawn was a big buck. At first I couldn't see for sure how many points it had but with binoculars I was clearly able to see there was only 5---it only had one antler. Frozen blood covers his left side. I was trying to get a pic of it but it wouldn't come out to a spot that wasn't behind some small trees. I looked away for a second and then it was gone.

I think I'll go out and follow it's trail to see if I can find the antler.

Ok, the 10 pointer wasn't a 10 pt, it was a 14 point! This is the guy I was trying to find in November!

I took this pic from my upstairs window. He wasn't too interested in my grunt calls but the does farther back in the woods seemed to be. He was shaking his head quite violently which I assume was an attempt to shed his antlers.

I just saw the 14 pt buck standing on the road as I was coming home. He was right at the end of my driveway. He's massive.

I found some corn that the previous owners left behind. I had no intention of feeding the deer and once it's gone, it's gone.

I put some on the ground near the bird feeder and the deer are having a staredown with our cat. He's sitting under the bird feeder wondering what the hell these giant creatures are that are surrounding him and only 10' away!
