Well I gone and done it....as Shania would say!!

Thank You Jim C. for selling me your older style Vixen with curved limb tips and DB's installed. Just got done shooting it, here are the specs and results:

Mounted a Burris Mini 4X scope on the Vixen

Arrows are Easton XX78, 2213 cut to 18.25" with aluminum insert in the front and Easton Uni-Bushings in the back. I had some concerns initially about using the Uni-Bushings, but after measuring the smallest section of the taper (0.315") and shooting the arrows, I do not forsee any problems.

I installed some Muzzy 100 grain BH I had in my toolbox.

3 - 5" vanes.

Total arrow weight is 351 grains.

At 10 yards, it is 1.4" high

At 20 yards, it is 0.0" high

At 30 yards, it is 6.3" low.

I have a chronograph setup in my 13 yard basement range, but I am getting inconsistent reading, probably the lighting.

Anybody have any guesses on the velocity?

I'll shoot outside with the chrono later to find out.

Anyways, I shot mostly at 30 yards and I am a BELIEVER NOW!!

I am expecting some Thunderhead 85 grain BH's in the mail tomorrow,

will drop arrow weight down to 336 grains, from my research on this forum, apparently Excal had a 325 grain minimum on the "older" Vixens.

P.S. when I initially registered, I MISTAKENLY misspelled ExcalBeliever!!

It should serve you well-I have killed several deer with it and never had it fail. I replaced it with a current model (mostly so that customers can try out the bow I will sell them). I never felt like I needed any more power for anything I hunt in Ohio.

The string should last a while too but I think I threw in another one as well.

Yes you did Jim, I just ordered the rope-cocking aid.

One thing I did notice..the trigger is incredible!

on my RCBS trigger scale it registers at #3.25 consistently. I noticed the slightest hint of creep...but not bad!

By the way, is the string I have the standard dacron, I read somewhere here about a different kind of dacron string which last longer.

NO you have the flemish twist string which is stronger and lasts longer than the standard endless loop string. Danny picked me a really good trigger because I used this bow to shoot some TNC hunter class tournaments-I believe I won the 2002 or 2003 national postal with it.

you can tell the flemish twist strings because they are made of two bundles of different colored dacron (YOU DO NOT WANT TO USE FASTFLITE on this bow) and the fuzz where the loop is fused into the string at each end
