Crossbow targets

Post by brayhaven »

I know we've talked about this before, but I sure couldn't find it back in the archives. What's a good target for stopping these bolts? The styrofoam ones don't get it done. Also, I'd like to keep it affordable if possible.
Thanks,
Greg

The block whether it is a crossbow one or standard one works well. I have the standard.
Git er done, and make sure it is done right!

Gary, he is hi and right with both those bolts, give him points for consistency. You might say consistency "costs" you.

HI to you

you could use some old clothing and/or blanckets and put them in a
burlap bag (compress them in the bag) fill it up and it is great

very easy to pull out (2 finger not forcing)
what time is it? time to go hunting

We use a Dead End bag.

It stands up nice to many shots and is around $60.

This site is a review for broadhead targets. The site requires you register to become a member first before being allowed to read the results I guess. http://www.broadheadtests.com/NEWHEADS.html I checked flying ace's site but didnt find anything yet. If your looking for a field tip target then I would suggest you make your own to save money. Mine is made from the cotton like fiber material like they use as a sound insulator in the door of Saturn cars. Its very similar to the stuff they use to put in some couch's and sofa's, and other bedding material. Something else that I havnt tryed that I think would work good is carpet padding. There is several different types. Just roll it up tight and start to tie it up a little section at a time with twine or something to hold it and keep it compressed.
