graphite bolts

Post by Quickshot »

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone can give me some feedback on Bemans ICS thunderbolt graphite bolts. I would also like to know what size I should use for my 165# exocet?

Thanks very much

The 20" thunderbolt with 4" vanes and 100gr. head weigh in at 424 -425gr. If you are not after the max in fps would work fine out of your exocet. I am sure someone on here can tell ya what number in Beman you could use for speed. :D

Lazer II's with alum. inserts 100gr heads weigh in @ 350-355gr. Samething all most with 2213 Alum. bolts either would sure shoot nice from that exocet... :D

I have shooting my exomaX with the beman Thunderbolts. Good bolts. But GaryL, they come from the factory with the 5'' vanes. How much it will weight with that? I do not havy a chrony, but estimating velocity through dial speed from the varizone scope, I think the max is shooting it at 331 - 333 fps.

Gad the 5" vanes I have weigh in at 46.6gr. for three, the 4" vanes weigh in at 23.6gr. for three so take 23.6 from 46.3 = 23gr more per bolt.

So that would avg. out to around 424+23 = 447gr. The 5" vanes I have here are on the heavy side(Thick) don't know what brand they are..

I think the thunderbolts with 5" vanes = a 2219 bolt in Alum., my 2219's with 5" vanes and 100gr. tip = 450-452gr. :D

gad per Excalibur's speed chart you are pretty close, see:

gad,

I'm shooting 2219 alum with 5" feathers and 125 gr. field points. Total of 466 grs (avg) and the best I can get out of them is 307 fps.

My Laser 2 shafts with 4' plastic vanes, brass insert and 100 gr field point average in at 390 grs total and run thru the chrono at 327 fps (avg).

Brace height at 1 1/4"

in my 2003 tenpoint owners manual they state, "we recommend the beman thunderbolt 22/64ths carbon crossbow arrow fletched with 4" plastic vanes and aluminum inserts and flat caps. it weighs in at 418 grains with a 100 grain fieldpoint."
the 2005 products catalog say's, privately labeled and manufactured exclusivley for tenpoint by world renowned gold tip, the pro elite carbon arrow is a masterpiece of precision engineering, stength, and accuracy. with it's brass insert, tenpoint superbright blunt knock, 4 inch plastic vanes, and a recomended 100 grain field point or broadhead. the pro elite produces an optimum shooting weight of 431 grains. i shoot the beman thunderbolts out of my stealth and the are fantastic. i also shot them out of my exomax when i had it and it really quieted the max down plus made it much smoother to shoot. i think for the exomax a heavier arrow is better, and much less stress on the bow.

I have Gold Tips Lasers II, with 4" vanes, aluminum rear insert, and brass front insert., which weighs 413 grains. Depending on the rear insert Tenpoint is using you might be right.
