New to turkeys

Post by NewGuy »

Alright this will be my first year chasing the turkey, I have a 3 month old son at home so scouting is very very limited. I have a few spots to hunt but i have no clue as to there being any birds there. I made it out once and did some shock calling but got no answers. What would be my best plan of attack in hopes of spotting a bird?

Get out before daylight, and listen as day breaks. If there are any gobblers you'll probably hear them gobble from the roost. I've never bothered to try to make them "shock gobble", as they usually sound off on their own. Once they fly down they may go silent, but by then I know where I need to be

Thanks Wabi,

Heading out on Saturday morning to a place where birds have been all week so far. My buddies gonna try with the bow and if they won't come in close enough for the bow hopefully i get a shot off with the 870
