My first Turkey!!!!

Post by NewGuy »

First off i need to start off and say that i really haven't had much time for scouting but my deer hunting partner has. Today was the second time out for me and although i didn't get it with a bow it is a turkey none the less. We headed out this afternoon and setup in a blind, no dekes just a mouth and box call. This turkey came straight in from all the way in the middle of the field. Just when it seemed it was gonna turn and go the other way a few yelps from my partner changed his mind. 27 yards ,19.7 lbs 8 1/2 beard, 3/4 inch spurs right and left

Way to go, New Guy! Congratulations on a job well done! I got one today too! Unfortunately it was with a 35 mm and I won't be eating it. I do hope that it will appear on a cover shot of the magazine, though. Have to wait and see if the photos turned out. Enjoy eating yours!

Nice turkey! I hope to get my 1st one with an xbow either this fall or by spring anyway... The trick is to find the turkeys in California that aren't in residential areas
