What is the best way to link to a previous post, so that you can post the link as an answer to someones question, in a new post?
I tried it a couple of times without success, I guess I may be missing something!

all I did was copy the address and paste it in the thread

The easiest way that I know of is to;

Open the post that you want linked (previous post),

Go to the top of your screen where it says "Address" - highlight (block) the entire line that starts with "http......"

Right click with your mouse on the highlighted area and select "copy",

Open the thread that you want to post the link to and right click in the message area and "paste". The link should be there now.
