LONG PRACTICE SESSION

Post by GREYWOLF »

:D Set up the range today in my yard. 1) 3-d bear target at 20 yds.
1) 3-d deer target at 30 yds. , my homemade 48" foam target at 40 yds. , my MORRELL large range bag at 50 yds. and finaly one of Diggers old screen filled burlap targets at 60 yds. I started shooting at 2 pm and finished up at 8 pm. Boy did that MAX give my back a work out!!
The MAX preformend great 1" groups out to 30 yds. 1.75 out to 50 yds. and puting the 50 yard mark in the scope a little high on the bull at 60 yds I got 2 inch groups WOW !!! was I impressed. I was useing a shot filled bench bag as a rest. and was very carful not to jerk the trigger but to have it go off as a surprise, like my rifles. I checked the speed 4 times during the session and at 10 yards I averaged 345 f.p.s. It was a great day ,and I only broke 3 bolts. I cant wait till my back feels better so I can do it again.   GREYWOLF

Hi Greywolf:

Good shooting!
Can you do one thing for me though?
I shoot quite a bit also, and after Bench sighting in , the rest of my shooting is from standing or kneeling, one knee.
When you target shoot next time could you do the same so I can see where I fit in field shooting wise?

Then we could compare.

:D Robin Hoods , 2 of them, 1 at 20 and 1 at 40, as far as off hand shooting I did some too, and of course the groups spread out , I did try a stoney point shooting stick and that tightened up the group again ,
I am a little sore today thou GREYWOLF

Sounds like good accuracy from the max, but that's what we have learned to expect from Excalibur
As for seeing where we rank in personal accuracy the rendezvous would be a great place to find out. I expect to find out I need to learn to stalk a lot closer than many other forum members
