BLACK VIXEN QUESTIONS

Post by Leo in Ga »

Question on the Black Vixen, for the Excalibur historians and/or anyone else that knows :D

When did production stop ??

Min arrow weight, 350g, 325g, or ???

Are the limbs interchangeable with the 185# Exomag limbs??

And of course any other info y'all care to share with the newest multiple Excalibur bow owner

Thanks All :)

My '01 Vixen is black and I believe was the last year it was made. the limbs are mag tips and will fit all the Excals including carved limbs. I have a set of Exocet mag limbs on my Wolverine and they worked well. Minimum weight for all Vixens carved limbs and mag is 325 gr.

I think the last Vixen in black was 2003 and they went to deer hide brown. Then they came out with the Phoenix which was 2005. With the Phoenix they put the forward tilting riser on the Vixen making the Phoenix 175lb'er and left the Vixen deer hide brown and no dp bars or pads.

Min. bolt weight is 325gr for the Vixen.

The limbs are interchangeable but nothing will be gained or lost as the limbs are the same.... :D The difference is in the power stroke as the Vixen is 14" and the Emag 185lb is 16"

Thanks Digger, and Gary for the info

I picked up a used black vixen today, with mag tips and db bars :D

This Vixen is in pristine shape and seems to be a later built one :)

I have an extra set of limbs and wondered if they were interchangeable also if I want the black body camo limbs look

Read that, the Vixen will have the black machined riser, while the Emag 185lb will have the cast riser. I have the black stock on my 185lb Emag.... with trail camo.... :D

The black Vixens came out in 2001. They came out just before I purchased my Vixen in late June 2001. I wanted a black one (new style) but got one of the older style instead. I was a bit disappointed at first but have no regrets now, it has been a great bow.
