Another New Moderator Needed NOW???

Post by chessy »

This is one of the best sites on the web .... i know i visit a few thru out the day . A site as big and as popular needs a few moderators ... one that can delete post such as the garbage ones below .... one or two men or women can not do this job alone ...

another mod.

I think everyone's here more than the mod. No offence by the way.
I think its because this site runs itself so well he feels it doesn't need moderating much, however as it grows so should the amount of monitoring.
I also nominate Digger and GaryL! :)

I'm guessing Peter (Excalibur Marketing Dude) is probably on vacation and a well deserved one no doubt. We should all play nice until he gets back. This site does belong to Excalibur Inc. after all. They're the one paying the bill. No pun intended just my overly dry sense of humor.

Sorry for the late thought.......

If Excal is okay with it then I think it is a good idea to have at least two mods that way when one is off on a well deserved break then the other can take up the slack~!

Excal may consider designating someone as a "acting moderator" to cover when Peter is off.....This forum only has the ocassional problem with morons posting filth and unfortunately Peter happened to be off when this occurred~!

After thinking about it I really dont think we want to mess with a good thing do we~?

Just my changed opinion from up here in the cheap seats~!

Peter wont be back until Monday.

Bill is head over heels making crossbows as fast as they can. This forum, although important, is probably way down the list of things he needs to do.

He did say he is looking for a back up for Peter. I don't know if that will be in house or not.

What does it actually take to be an administrator on a forum like this? Does one have to be a super whiz bang computer nerd to be able to handle it? Or can soem one of average intelligence do it?

Woody,
I'm a moderator on a couple of other forums, and it's not difficult. When logged in as a moderator you have the option to edit or delete posts. You can simply delete the offensive content, or you can delete the entire post. I would think those options alone would be helpful to Peter. As far as blocking a member, or ISP, I think those decisions should be Excalibur's alone, but a long-time member (or two) with a cool head should be given the moderator position to delete the spam type posts.
BTW - this is wabi, not WAB who posted earlier on the thread
