What color fletches?

Post by exohuntr »

What colors do you fletch your bolts with? I usually like 2 white and a red cockfeather. The white helps the blood show up better. We do not have to worry much about snow here in Alabama, so it stands out against the forrest floor well also...Exohuntr

All white or all florescent yellow or 2 of one and 1 of the other. I'm using all white now.

After years of experimenting I find I can see fluorscent yellow best under most conditions. I fletch all my arrows with flo yellow.

Mine came with blue and black  . Very hard to see, but they still make a nice pass through  . I recently bought a few dozen duravanes from a Walmart clearance. They were giving them away for 10cents/doz. I got some flourescent green and orange.

Two barred white and a barred yellow cockfeather. I just love the look of barred feathers.

I use either 2 yellows and a white or 2 orange and a black in the snow.
All the other colours are for practice bolts for me.

Digger: That is some collection of arrows and bolts. Have you found much difference from feather to plastic?

Sliver: Those are still the best looking Turkey Feather bolts so far. :)

Feathers seem to fly better in good weather and on compounds, but lose some accuracy when they get wet.

fletching

bstout:

What broad heads are those? they look bigger than Muzzy. or Wasp.
The white fletching really stands out eh? :)

I dont know how good when snowing though, thats why I like at least one Bright yellow. or two and a white. Seems to be snow for about half of the Deer season.
