My best friend decided to start bowhunting this year....this is his first one after we hunted hard all this week in Huron County. He loves his excal!

I spent last week gun hunting at his house in Muskoka and he came to my place this week.

Two very tough weeks with hardly any deer seen. He was about to give up but changed his venue this morning and Friday the 13th was good to him! Deer was licking a salt/food block when the shot was taken quartering away....perfect shot with exit through neck as head was down.

8 yard shot...45 yard recovery
150 grain excal boltcutters

adult doe

I was very happy for him when he called me on my stand at 7:01 am!

Bow : Excalibur Vixon
Bolt : Firebolt
Deer : 12 pt, field dressed to 234lbs
Shot : 18 yrds
Recovery : 20 yards
Location : North of Kingston, Ontario
Time : 7:35am

Hey everyone, this is my first post on here, just thought I would share the exciting story of my hunt. I took this deer on the eighth of October, 2009. I had been in the stand since just before sun-up when I heard too much noise coming through the brush to be just one animal. Sure enough an entire bachelor group of bucks walked out right in front of me. I had a nice eight pointer all sited up when I heard some serious crashing coming from the same directions the others had come from. Seeing as the others had not picked me up yet I decided to wait and see what was coming. Sure enough this guy comes out within 20 yards of my stand. He passed in front broadside and I squeezed off the shot. It was a good hit with only a twenty yard recovery. Truly a deer of a lifetime!

Thanks for reading.

Hello all this is my first post here and probably not my last. I have a few picks of the buck I harvested in 2009. I have been after this one for a couple of years and he has always outsmarted me by picking up my sent and never ever coming to calls or rattles. I have seen him mating with deer, playing with the farmer’s dog in the field, the field he was always in, the one I could never hunt. This time though I outsmarted him I had gotten tired of the usual two stands I hunt out of and decided to change it up. I put this stand up and came back the next day around 3:00pm. Within an hour there he was walking through the tall grass, he was on the move and not stopping and not going in the direction I would have liked him to go. This was a onetime decision and I was pretty confident in myself and the bow, I grunted too him at 45yards and twang the arrow found its mark. Thump, thump, thump went the heart and I gave myself and the deer a half hour to ingest what happened. He is now hanging above the fireplace and my 11 turning 12 year old daughter says to me, dad if I get my license and shoot a deer can I have a deer mount too beside yours. So I told her to study hard, and now she has her eyes set on the "NEW" Vixen II Pink Crossbow.
Back to the buck: 285lbs on hoof, 10 pointer, caught Nov 11th 2009 In Pickering Ontario, through the heart and 1 lung, and my PB.
Here he is in 2008 on my trail camera.

Caution !!!!!!! Graphic Pictures to follow!!!!!

I began hunting with crossbow this year. I have been watching this site for some time now. After years of shoulder pain with 2 surgeries I finally had to hang up the vert bow because I was no longer confident that I could humanely take game. I purchased an Excalibur Exocet 200 with all the trimmings and my father in law got the Equinox. After a little practice I was confident I would have no problem hunting with it. I went with the Excalibur Boltcutters for the strength and weight. Long story short, I was able to take my first deer with it yesterday. A nice big doe. Granted I have taken some nice bucks in my time but I really wanted to know what this bow could do before I relied on it to take the trophies I hunt. Let me just say that it passed with flying colors!! I can now say that I am 100% confident in what this combination can do. A big thanks to the folks at Excalibur for taking time to answer my questions and help me get set up. I have never encountered a better Customer service department....never.
