2009 Season Trophy Room

Post by Big58cal »

I guess I'll be the first to start the topic in here for the 2009 fall season.

I would like to enter this one in the Photo Contest also for the year.

10/1/2009 (date on camera was wrong)

Since this photo is going in the contest, part of the requirement is that the animal be tagged in the picture. Kentucky doesn't require animals to be physically "tagged" unless it leaves your possession. Our check-in system is done through a phone call to an automated system. Since I can't show a tag on the animal, I did the next best thing and did a search on the KDFWR web site of the checked-in animals in my county for a specific date range. Below is a screen shot of the search showing that I have complied with checking-in the doe. :D

Let's see some more pictures folks!!! I know ya'll have been busy! :P

Finally got some time to get into the woods this past weekend. Saturday (10-10-09)evening this guy came in on my right. Ended up with a 30 yard shot, he went 100 yards before going down. He was as far as I could see with the bino's when he went down.

I think I found the buck making all the scrapes and rubs around.
Will post pics and story when he's caped out
this is a mounter for me.

UPDATE

I went to one of the swamp blinds last night and got a shot but had a hang fire.
Don't know what led me to do it but I went to the same blind this morning.
It was moon bright last night and I got in a little later than I should have so I didn't take any of my luxuries out of my pack.I put on a primer, put the barrel in the rest and went into scope world.
My set up is very comfortable so I just look through the scope (on 3x) most of the time.
I never heard this deer come in,I was scanning the cut back and forth real slow getting used to the low light.
I scoped back to where I had just been and caught movement. It was a deer, looked to be a fairly big one for around here as far as body size.I never saw the rack (I have a doe tag),he had his head down quartering to me.
I later ranged it at 52 yards. With his head down I could see where the neck meets the shoulders.I settled the crosshairs on that spot and squeezed the trigger. There was no hangfire this time.
I forced myself to not flinch and remain on target as the smoke cleared.
He dropped right in his tracks, there was no sign of any struggle.
I couldn't figure out the timer on my daughters camera but I did shoot a video with it.I'll post it later.
Here is one picture atleast.

CVA Kodiak Magnum/SS fluted
3x9x50 simmons scope

Time for the chores to begin.

Thank's Don :D

just want to share an 11 point buck I got this year. I was only out for two hours and this was my season done. The buck weighed 285 lbs at the butcher with skin and head on. I ratled this buck from 90 yards away. He came charging straight for me and stopped about 25 yards away. I was sitting on the ground nestled into some pines.
