Using slings?

Post by sidekick »

How many of you guys use slings to carry your bows in and out of the woods? Do they interfere with your quivers? Are they any different than a rifle sling? In other words could you just use a rifle sling or are they shorter etc...? Sorry for all the questions, but I don't have any place to go look at them and check them out.

I have and use the Excalibur sling. It does not interfere with my quiver as I use either a hip quiver or a Dan Miller over the limbs quiver.
The excal quiver is padded, wider than a rifle sling and is confotable walking into the woods.

I use a nylon rifle sling. The Dan Miller quiver bracket keeps arrows out of the way.

Sidekick, I also use the Excalibur sling, but gets in the way of my quiver that runs along the rail. I'll soon be ordering a Dan Miller quiver.

I was in Pendleton Oregon last month visiting my son. I was planning on going over this fall to elk hunt with him but I went to the district office there and they told me that I could not use a crossbow there even though have a bad shoulder and can not use a compound bow. Do you have any knowledge on crossbow use in Oregon.

Sardis, OH Horizontal Archery 37432 Fifth Avenue 43946 740-483-2312

Dan sells the mount to put your quiver on, your Excal quiver will fit as will the Bohning quivers.

Unfortunately it's true. I'm from Eagle Point, Oregon and a xbow is not considered a legal hunting weapon for anything...disabled or not. I sold all my vert. bow stuff this year because I was no longer able to use it. However, I'm very excited about hunting in other states that do allow xbow use for disabled hunters. I just hope Oregon comes to their senses soon. Send me a pm if you'd like more info.

Sorry about your elk hunt. That NE Oregon area is great. I lived in Enterprise as a kid and hunt in Ukiah now. Awesome country!!

Dale, I checked out your website. Very nice. Looks like I'll be spending some time checking it out. Do you have any good sites I should check out about xbow hunting in Wyoming?

I agree with Bait Pile Willie. The set up works great.
