First day out today and bagged a Jake. Shot him at 8 yards distance. Just about blew his lower beak right off with a 3 inch shell. This was my first turkey hunt with a shotgun. Got 1 each year with my crossbow since I started 2 years ago.

That's it, I'm going back to my Exomag!

CONGRATS BUCKBUSTER. I do not know a turkey hunter alive who hasn't killed a jake. Pay no mind to them and enjoy your first turkey harvest; he will allways be a trophy to you.

I agree, I was very fortunate to have a nice mature gobbler come to me, as my first turkey ever killed :D , but believe me, i would have shot him them same, and would have been very happy with it. It would have been a great trophie, it always is , you first one, congrats. I haven't had time to go out again working the weekend also, but when i go out again, if a jake comes within the range of the "Phoenix" is gonna eat some bolt.
Congrats once again. :D
For me hunting is just like Mossy Oak, it's not a passion, it's an Obsession

Congrats to everyone. I haven't got one yet but I'll still trying. I'm going to try my luck again on Monday and see what happens. I think maybe I need Lonewolf to call them in for me.
