Question ? - Stringing With FFF String

Post by Hardy Buck »

Hello Gents,

I have been having trouble stringing my exomax xbow with my new Fast Flight flemish string. Everytime, it seems the string is not long enoguh to twist enough times to allow it to sit 1.5" back from the stock marks. Im 99.9% sure everything im doing is the proper way, but any help is greatly appreciated.

Stringing with FF string

Post by BOB VANDRISH »

Vic,I had the exact same problem with the FFF string on a new Phoenix I just bought.
I elected to fire it a few times, and left it strung, and it is showing signs of stretching a bit,and is now in between the two marks.
I feel it will stretch even further, and eventually should settle in where you want it.
If it doesn't,I am sure you can get a replacement string at no charge.
Bob.

I have found that these strings stretch quite a bit. They get to the point they start to ball up from putting twists in. That is when I retire it for good.

Hardy Buck,

the proper position of the string is 1" ~ 1.5" from the line that divides between the rail and the riser.

On my exomax, the 1" mark is exactly in the middle between the two lines marked on the rail, not from the far line (2nd) marked on the rail.

Check on that.

FFF Strings

I had problems with my FFF string also, yes it dose strech a lot before it settled in. With mine though it started to unravel on the right hand side of the center then ball up and come apart. I had to take it off. Very dissapointed in it. Only got maybe 60 or 70 shots with it on my new Xomax. It is quieter and faster than the stock string which came off the first time I fired a bolt with it. Gave it a few twists and it is fine now. I much Prefer the FFF string though. Would like to find out if it is a lot of factory deffects out there.

Thanx Gents, Heres my issue. As i String my crossbow as shown, I seem to be doing everything right. Except, when i string the FFF, and relieve the pressure, the string settles to the first mark back of the stock. It is my understanding, and as all of you mentioned, it should settle between the two marks. My question is, should i take a few shots with it in this state. Then re-string it, and possible the stretch will allow me to position it properly ?

P.S. lots of Velvet on those beautifull youthfull racks being seen in southern ontario.......Come on Oct 1st !!!
