New Vixen

Post by motuna »

I received my new Vixen on Tuesday, Had a chance to shoot it (or any xbow) for the first time today. I love it! :
I did notice that when I first installed the string that it lined up with the outer line on the bolt rest, now after shooting about a dozen times, it is moved between the lines a little. I remember reading about string stretching and having to twrist the string to shorten I assume thats what happened?
One other thing it seems to be a little loud, is there attachments for the Vixen to quiet it down?

With ear plugs I can't hear the deer coming! No the Vixen does not come with them!

Ear plugs is the standard reply to your question. The arrow is through the deer before it hears the twang. DB's help a little.

Thank you all! and to anyone thinking about which brand to buy let me tell you this EXCALIBUR. I read this forum since I joined for that reason and I heard NO bad remarks ordered my Vixen from the Superstore last Friday, received it on Tues. shot it today!
What is really great I called the 800# 3-times since Tuesday and always got a live voice, no phone directions and the lady answered my questions right now and was very polite, unbeleiveable!

I think the Vixen is a great bow for hunting deer and even better than any of the others for the "just plain old fun" of target shooting! I have the Phoenix now, but if I had my old Vixen back I wouldn't feel like I was under-bowed. The DB's will quiet it some, but IMHO they aren't really worth the expense & trouble of fooling with taking the pads off to store it unstrung. I took them off my Phoenix and don't really notice the noise level being any worse.
