Anyone cock a xbow in a tree stand ??
I have cocked by Exomax in the climbing stand with the rope cocking aid with no problem a number of times. I place the stirrup on the platform of the stand. I have hand cocked it a few times, but am concerned the string will not be dead center and the cocking aid takes care of that and it is much easier.
Lots of good ideas, I never thought of that one Greywolf.GREYWOLF wrote:I put a large screw in hook about 2 feet above my mt head when standing up in my stand, I hang the bow on it by the sturup then I pull down on the handels and its cocked , easyer than useing your foot

I think from now on I'll cock my xbow up in the stand, just in case the safety lets go, and a dry fire happens, (not good).
Trick is to cock once, shoot once and collect once.

What if you don't weigh as much as the pull requires???GREYWOLF wrote:I put a large screw in hook about 2 feet above my mt head when standing up in my stand, I hang the bow on it by the sturup then I pull down on the handels and its cocked , easyer than useing your foot

Grey Owl. I cocked mine Friday evening after shooting my doe, standing up and using the rope cocker,no problem.I was hoping a buck would come in even though there wasn't much light.

cocking in tree
i used to be able to cock my horton legend no problems in my stand, since then i have a exocet and cant do it not enough room seems like and the limbs hit the stand,so i bought a crankeroo,im a big strong young guy but there just doesnt seem to be room..
Depends on which stand I'm in and the level of excitement. For cocking it for target practice in the ladder stand (not room for the limbs when the platform is only about 20" wide with metal supports on both sides) I'm out of luck. When cocking it after a shot at a deer the "leg press" from a sitting position is easy.
From the hang-on stand or climber it's easy to cock with the stirrup on the platform. The hang-on stand is easiest, as it has an XX-large platform. Not quite dance floor size, but very generous. That stand is a real pain to hoist up the tree, though.

In Ont, weapons must be encased until twilight (morning or evening) so unless you're sneaking into your stand during shootin' time, the darn thing has to remain in the case... which means there's no choice but to cock it in the stand. Bit silly if you ask me, but that's what we must do.crazyfarmer wrote:to do mine on the ground... I think some have isues since their stands arent wide enough to place the bow down on. Most of mine are hang on's with big platforms so i have plenty open room to stand on the peg and draw it back if I needed. But I still cock mine before entering the woods though.. time and time again I walk up on deer before getting to my stand. So im always ready for them. I dont have a bolt in it though unless I see one
I do the "stick the leg out and pull on the rope aid to cock while sitting" trick also... don't like standing much in a tree stand (even if it is only 10' up). Heights... <shudder>
