2" blazer vanes?

anyone else shoot those on their bolts? Greywolf sent me a fletching jig so i just slapped 3 on to see as a test. I know they are extremely small lol, but after letting dry I took 3-4 test shots. Just at 20 yards in my garage though. But all 3 were on top of each other, would have split the others if I didnt remove before shooting again. Maybe it was just me, but the bolt even seemed to fly more on a perfect line. But again, this was only 20 yards. On the chrono, my speeds picked up 4-5fps also with them if that matters.

supposedly they fly the exact same with bheads as fieldtips also so ill find out in a few days.

2" blaser are very very good; also with 1.5" miniblazer you can get good results (with a good brodhead and a good arrow, of course!):

I shoot an Excal Phoenix. I make my own bolts. I've been trying to develop a bolt that is short and accurate. Currently I am working with a 2018 aluminum shaft set at 16.25 inches total length including a 100 gr Slick Trick point, Bohning wrap and 2" Bohning Blazer vanes. I add weight to the front aluminum insert to achieve 13.8% FOC. with a total bolt weight of 367 gr.

I get 300 fps with this combo. Accuracy= I can hit a 6" inflated baloon at a range of 75 yards with this bolt and Slick Trick tip. I'm happy with this performance, but I'm still working on improving it because the German Excal distributor (at Excaliburcrossbows.de) says that with my Phoenix, I should be able to hit an apple at 80 meters (85 yards). So that's my ultimate goal.

I have a whole bunch of Blazer vanes that I want to fletch onto my bolts, but I haven't been able to find an Arizona EZ Fletcher anywhere. I don't want to get the martin jig cause then I can only do one vane at a time.

A guy at my local Gander Mountain store suggested some fletching cement called Fastset to me. I use an old Bitzenburger fletching rig that is also one-at-a-time. This Fastset cement has worked well for me to speed up the fletching process. It's fast and clean.

im using the blitz jig.. pretty simple to use since im just using the center lines on it. These are the first I have ever done so i hope im doing them right. It doesnt seem like you need a PHD to do them. Just glue and stick since the jig has the 3vane 120deg setting for them.

I went out and just tested one and shots at 30 were pretty much dead on, no real difference between them and the ones greywolf did for me with the 4inch vanes. The only difference was that they hit about 1inch higher at 30 due to the little weight difference im sure and more speed.

The best stuff I used was called Goat Tuff by Tim's Archery.



It's really great. It dries so fast that I actually glued a vane to my finger one time and it took me forever to seperate them, lol but I've never had a vane come off, and I've tried to pull one off and they just won't budge.

I might have to try that also.. its taking a good 30-40mins for mine to dry. This is with the bohning instant also. It works, but I dont like how it dry's white, espically on the non white wraps. Those that use the blitz, are ya'll fletching them straight with the center lines on the top and bottom setting? Again, im new that this. I noticed it still isnt straight with that setting since it seems to have a offset when its on the bolt

thanks man, those are my first 3 LOL. The only thing im not up to par on is the offsetting and etc. But it wasnt that hard just trying those for the first time. Anyone can do them...

I gotta thank greywolf for sending my the jog and materials also

next year ill get a scale and etc so I can be more preice on these things LOL. But they should weigh in the 420range with the brass insert

but ill give that a try next season.. this ones coming to a end here shortly so I dont want to spend a arm and a leg to let these things set for next year. I heard about the goat tuff.. really looks like superglue to me and knowing me, ill glue my hand to the bolt LOL
