What speed should I be shooting?

Post by duber »

I am shooting Gold-Tips Laser II's with the brass insert in the front and 100 grain wasp boss broadhead out of a 175 exocet.I just got a vari-zone scope I have to get it on and zero it . I was wondering what speed I should set the speed ring for to start off.

Merry Christmas ya'll :)

Same arrows out of a Phoenix, a little under 300 should get you close. Seems like you have to fine tune the V-zone to each individual bow.

I agree, I think 300 should be in the ball park. When I sight mine in I zero it at 20 then set the speed at 40. The other distances line up nicely.

My vixen 150 vixen shoots 285 and my 200 emag shoots 330 both with the flemish string. What string do you shoot?

Thanks for the info guys.I will start out with it set a 300.Its been too windy here to sight it in.Maybe tomorrow.

Another question,I am thinking that the 20 yard marker should have the same poi no matter the speed setting. Is this true?

Thanks again and merry Christmas,
Wes

If you know the weight of the arrow(bolt),all you have to do is go to the charts on the Excal website, and the ballistics are all there for you to see for several different types and weights.
Takes the guessing out of the picture.
