How many of you take the string off your crossbow during the off season?
Thanks

Wouldn't hurt but I don't think it's neccesary. My PSE compound has been strung since 1996 and it's fine. My buddies Wolverine has been strung since 1989 and it's fine too. I doubt the guys with compound crossbows unstring them off season.

I take the string off if it's going to be stored for more than a couple of weeks.

Don't forget to take off your dissipator bars if you are unstinging for any length of time.

I don't usually take my string off, since I'm always shooting it. Although it's rather cold to shoot outside in the winter, so I will probably take it off this winter.

I take my string off after hunting season is over. I put it back on from time to time during the summer to shoot a few rounds but unstring it when Im done shooting each time because I dont know when Im going to be shooting again. I know some people have had theyre bow strung since the day theyve owned it and never had any loss in power but I would think it would be a good idea to give the limbs a break if your not going to shoot it for a few months.
My Vixen is probably a little faster and easier to string and unstring than some others because I dont use the dissapator pads.

What part are the dispator bars and why should they come off if the string comes off?

I have never taken it off! and dont shoot it during the off season untill Aug. I'm thinking maybe i will this year just to give those limbs a break. From the look of the amount of guys who remove it ... i guess im doing something wrong!

I remove the string after ever hunt. Install it again before I go hunting. But remember I hunt with the One Piece Limb ..... Relayer. My dad removes his string almost as ofter as I do, and he uses the Exomag.

John, you need to remove the pads before you remove the string. If you do not, the limbs will compress the rubber pads to the point that they will never work correctly after that.

Unstring during off season

Post by Bruno-TL »

Oops. My exomag has been unstrung since Oct 1. I am not sure I know how to remove the rubber pads.

How do you determine that the existing pads are damaged?

Help
