Ohio late season buck
Hi all,
Well, finally its my turn to show of my only harvest of this season! This is my first buck ever and I got it in southern Ohio on Sunday. We were on our way back from the ATA trade show and we stopped in to see our buddies from Team Backwoods. Of course we had to see if we could fit in a hunt while we were there and I got the awesome buck.
Dan and the backwood boys (who are big Excalibur fans btw) really know how to deer hunt and consistantly produce nice bucks. They even found a way to get an unlucky guy like me (who hates to go up high in tree stands which is another story....) a shot at a buck! They also produce the best deer hunting videos I have ever seen with tons of huge Ohio deer (I sort of sound like a commercial don't I!). They run the video thing part-time venture and no they are not a guide service, just good friends. If you want to see more about these guys check out thier website: http://www.teambackwoods.com/
Anyhow, I'm very pleased to finish off a crappy season by not only getting a deer but a nice buck....now I can't wait until next year!

The tag was easy to get, it was about $150.00 for a non-resident hunting licence and tag...you can get them at the local Walmart! There buck to doe ratio seems way better than here in Ontario. The night I hunted I saw 9 deer, a few spikers and a bunch of does and then this guy. I was shaking so bad I did'nt think I would get close to this buck!!! Our buddies have some great spots which is half the battle but the area has tons of land. A great place for white tails for sure!

Very nice Peter.
Great season ending story. If you brought back the meat, how was it coming back across with it? Any problems?
Excellent Buck Dude!

Cool Buck! I've also been thinking of going out for a late season hunt. Did you get the buck in Wayne National Forest? It is so cool there - you can go back in twenty miles and never see another person. I coyote hunt back in there on occasion and I swear the game is not as afraid of humans as it is closer to the roads.
I think all the Ohio boys should get a hat after we gave up one of our big bucks,
