OT - Compound Bow Draw Length
Been off list for some time. Now I'm back and already I want something.
I'm looking at a used Browning Rage One and on the original retailers web site it says, 36" - 70% - Draw Lengths 50# 60# 70# - Draw Lengths 25"-31"
If the draw length as I understand what it means is 36" I'm fine, if it is 25-31 it's not.
Illuminate and elucidate me.

Your knuckles must drag on the ground Most bows draw to 31" - 32" at most. Measure from brace height which is usually 5" to 8" depending on the make and model.

draw length
36 sounds like the the axle to axle length to me. Thats pretty much the length of the bow from top to bottom except for the cams. you can get a ball park idea of what your draw is if you put a tape dead center in the middle of yur chest and then put yur hands together straight in front of you. the distance from yur chest to yur finger tips is gonna be close but I would have a good bow shop measure to be sure. I would be sure before you buy one. If it dont fit you yu will be cheating yourself on yur accuracy and comfort. Unless you have made up yur mind on the browning, you should check out mission archery. Its a new line made by matthews and they are alot of bow for the money. My bow shop is selling the base model for about $325. My bow guy likes them and he is a die hard matthews man.

The #1 mistake made by novice archers in outfitting themselves is choosing a bow that is too heavy for them.
The #2 mistake made by novice archers in outfitting themselves is choosing a draw length that is too long for them.
Too heavy is devestating to overall form.
Too long makes proper anchoring and sight picture impossible.
Believe me ... a gorilla wouldn't need a 36" draw!
The majority of compound archers I've met would do better if they remembered two things:
Lighter weight
Shorter draw

Rich, 36 would have to be the axle to axle cause like said, ive never seen a 36' draw before. I'd love to see the person that does use one though LOL
My compound is 34inches I think;) Short and deadly LOL Its amazing how small the new compounds are getting

TPM: Yeah ... of course it's draw weight I was referring to. I guess when talking in archery-speak you have to remember that someone might not fill in the missing words in abbreviated descriptions. Certainly we hope that no hopeful archer has problems holding up the modern 3-5 pound offerings!

How is that doing lately? How are you feeling?
