Well today i was out dialing in my bow i was using a rest for some reason i had the tip of my thumb above the rail and wham the string hit it wow did it ever hurt ... felt like an idiot too arrow missed completly but found it my finger nail is black and blue just had to put a pin thru it to relieve some pressure, Anyone else done this or was i just an idiot lol
I've personally never had it happen to me, you're definetely not the first though. The worst I've had happen was the string slipped out of my hands while de-cocking, thought I ripped the fingerprints off all my fingers.
That hurts like-------------. I am glad you are OK.
Sold my Exomag to a friend . He let his dad shoot it . The 3rd shot he had his thumb up . 6 stitches and almost 1.5 years later his thumb still is not right.
Ouch!!!! That's gotta hurt.
Never done it myself. My hands a relatively small. It would be a stretch for me to get my fingers or thumb to get higher than the top surface of the rail. I also, as a result of years of shotgunning, I always instictively point my thumb forward as you would with a proper shotgun grip.
The most important blood trail leads to the Cross...
I did something similar on my 2nd shot after purchasing mine except I must have had my thumb higher than you because my thumb was bruised and swelled from wrist to tip with only slight blackening of the thumb nail, it hurt like heck and had to resort to just admiring my new bow for a few days. I'm pretty sure this is one mistake that is only made once.
I'm sure it's happend to more people than care to confess.
I had 6 stitches & 2 broken bones in my little finger from a whack with the string on a Horton several years ago.
Lol i wish i had of witnessed it ha ha. you told me About it last night Lol. i haven't done it but i've been hit in the face by a string that flew off. . . that kinda tickled. . . .
On this subject I consider my self very lucky, just caught the tip of my left thumb once, but enough to learn me a very good lesson. Just cause it's got a stock you don't shoot a Xbow like a rifle. Another thing you must do if you don't want a headache real quickly is make sure recurve limbs will strike nothing in the process.

This is what I was told.
However, I have done this twice. And yes it does hurt like a SOB!!!. Never needed any stitches, but black and blue for sure. The first time, I was wih a bunch of buddies and was pretty sore and embarrassed. The second time I was alone. It's been a few years now since I've done that.
