String pressure on the rail

Post by Stosh »

When I look at my string from loop to loop the rise where it touches the rail is abouth 1/8 inch. Is this normal? Seems like a lot of pressure and maybe loss of bolt speed. Has anyone else looked at theirs?

Thanks, Stosh

Stosh, I looked at my Vixen and the string kinks over the rail on both sides as well. Its between 1/8" and 1/16" as well.

I sort of have the same problem and maybe someone can help me with any suggestions.

I bought a new Phoenix last winter and shot with it till late Spring and removed my string (FF) so to relax the limbs and noticed no wear on the string. This weekend I placed my string back on and waxed it and adjusted it till I had my proper brace height. It shot great for a while then I noticed it was dropping 4" from my point of aim and also noticed the major string wear. The string was hitting and rubbing the left edge of the rail and actually damaged the middle winding wrap which came loose.

Is their a way to adjust the string so it will not rub on the rail ??

Is their suppose to be clearance between the rail and string ??

I guess I'll have to buy a new string from Boo...

Thanks...Friggs

I believe that (and this wouldn't be the first time I was wrong) the string is pushing with a fair amount of pressure because the latch is above the rail. When the string lets go this pressure prevents the string from bouncing around behind the arrow because it is pointed in somewhat of a downward angle.
If the string isn't damaged then you could reserve it.

Some of the other guys were getting wear from the rail. I believe they found they were not pulling straight up but were pulling back forcing the string hard against the rail.
