Got my first deer tonight, a buck..
Thought it was all over for me, but tonight I decided to try a different spot and ended up taking my very first deer. I was on the ground, sitting on a cliff, he came to 8 yards and I nailed him. Found half my carbon arrow in the chest, surprised me a bit, I thought it was a perfect side shot.
Needless to say I am Pumped!
My father in law came to my rescue, left his party at the drop of a hat to throw on boots, met me down river and helped me load the deer, then taught me how to clean it. In the process I lost a Surefire M3T.. but I am still smiling!
Everyone gets a buck for their first deer though, right?
My Boo string let me hit this thing at 8 yards, didn't even flinch, walked out 20 yards looked back at me and dropped. At first I didn't even think I hit it..
Boo, thanks for the remarkable string, and for putting up with me staggering my words when I called you from the cliff.. I feel like a better man just knowing you.

Dave, it's my pleasure!
BTW, I knew that you would like the way the deer react to your string. I am very pleased that the string actually helped. Quite to the contrary to what some non-believers think! LOL, we'd better not tell any secrets! How are the cat whiskers hanging? Are they flying off???? LOL!

Congrats, on the Buck, your first, I'm happy for you. However, I would of been happier if you had gotten it with one of my strings.
BTW, now that you've broken the ice, the rest will come easier.

I don't think his heart or Jen can take it if Dave whacks another deer soon! LOL!ComfyBear wrote:Congrats, on the Buck, your first, I'm happy for you. However, I would of been happier if you had gotten it with one of my strings.

My Comfy strings.. I have one sealed in a plastic bag, untouched and unused. The other, well, I severed a strand while doing the serving, took the other half and used it on my sons Bear crossbow.. Looks and works great! I see leather when I look at that string.
Tonights buck didn't hear the arrow coming, the only thing I can compare it to is a compound. Big hole, no noise, no tracking.

Congrats!!!
My first deer was a doe, actually 2 does. I had shot other deer before but only ones that other guys had shot at first, so I didn't really count them till I got my own by myself. I shot the one doe and shot the other one as it jumped over the first one. What a feeling! That was with my rifle. I've shot more deer and bears now also.
I have yet to shoot anything with my bow yet. I'm hoping this is the year for me.
I haven't even shot a buck with my rifle yet.
