Apple Cookers
I'm new to this. Can anyone tell me about these apple cookers I hear about? How do they work & what is involved in making one.

I have used these many times. as well with honey and sirup.
They will work in area's where the smell's are around already best.
Apple orchard area's for apple smell, up north for Sirup or Honey for bear's, etc. They are very easy to make and use.
A couple coffee cans and some clothes hangers work fantastic.
Small burner can's, blue flame. One can smaller than the larger coffee can. A couple pieces of clothes hanger shoved through about an inch above burner height. This to hold smaller can up for burning. Mix some sliced apples and water or apple juice to fill small can about two thirds full and "Bobb's" your Uncle, your off to the races.

No I am using the little camp burners that you open the lid and light. They are gel. About 2" in. high cans. Makes a blue flame.

I'm still thinking of ways to cook the apples to eat after the hunt.
A good alcohol stove/burner is easy to construct. There are several models available commercially, but a couple empty cans and a few minutes can have a functional one for free.
Here's one example - http://www.csun.edu/~mjurey/stove.html
Heet brand gas-line antifreeze is a great fuel, too!
Caution: Be very careful with an alcohol stove - the flame is invisible in daylight!
I often carry an alcohol stove in my fanny pack for a coffee/tea/hot chocolate break while hunting. Lightweight, efficient, and environmentally friendly.
