Enjoying some time off ...

Post by R.J. »

We had the week off work ... Did some day trips ... worked around the house and lounged around the pool ... My wife and I caught up on some fine dining , local , and a few summer movies ... basically relaxed for the week ...

Headed to Mount Forest / Durham area Sunday July 13th ... with 4 of our Japanese Eng friends , that are helping with our new Plant set up / launch ..

Some pictures are from my pocket camera , so not the best quality ( kinda hazy ? ) , but OK to aid the narrative !

Durham area has some beautiful scenery ...

Image

Image

We also stopped at a few farms I hunt , to have a look around ... I haven't got the trails cut yet this year , so we had to feel our way thru the grassy areas ..

Image

Image

We saw lots of cool things today ...

A doe on the way ...

Image

Cool flowers and fields of Mustard Plants ..

Image

Image

Another large snapping turtle ...

Image

The wheat and grain fields on the farms are growing great !... the cover is tall enough to hide all kinds of critters ...

Image

We went to Wilmer ponds ... wanted to catch some Rainbows for dinner ..

Image

Image

Fished for three hours with small Panther Martin Spinners as well as standard earth worm rigs ... the guys caught their first fish in Canada !

Image

Image

Image

Image

Ended up with nine fish total ... here are six plump pan sized beauty's

Image

The previous picture doesn't show much detail of the fish ... this one shows more deatil of their beautiful markings ...

Image

Had a great day ... the weather was perfect ... I snapped a few fun shots as well ...

If something is not right ... an Engineer will have a countermeasure for it !

Image

An eye level veiw of the farm fields !

Image

Here are some other cool shots I got at the farm ...

Caught a cool frame of a rabbit crossing the farm lane , with his reflection in a puddle at forground ..

Image

A small painted turtle and a yound wood duck sun together ...

Image

A bull frog .... about to launch from his perch ...

Image

Still scouting for some Late July / Early August , velvet buck pictures ... I will keep you posted !

No need to complain about using a pocket camera RJ. Your pictures would be awesome if you used the homemade carboard box and opened the flap for a shutter. I especially like the rabbit with its reflection shot!

Good pictures.I like them all but the duck and the turtle is my favorite.Looks like they are having a stand off for sunnin rights.

Duck - SO,Youv'e finally come out of your shell
Turtle - Yeah, theres a duck on my log
Duck - Ah,whose log? no need to be shellfish
Turtle - stop ducking the issue, quacker
Duck - Bottom dweler
Turtle - water turkey

Have I got to much time on my hands?

Thanks all ... Yep , always looking for some unique shots ..

And Yep the beauty Saugeen and Rocky Saugeen are some of my favorites spots !

We use to get some awsome Spec's in the Rocky Saugeen back in the 80's ... then they had a silt spill that nearly wiped them out ...

Nice pics. Crops are looking good this year for wildlife and livestock, if they can get in the fields with all this rain. Why did the rabbit cross the road? Maybe he was late for the party with the wood duck and turtle.
