Does this mean you won''t be joining us for the first annual Excalibur Forum Spamfest and Vienna Sausage Festival in 2009, Vix?

I think Bob is hosting. Surely you wouldn't disappoint him? :?:

I usually don't bring anything to eat. I like to keep my movements to a minimum. If I did, I would bring something natural smelling. Granola bars or veggies.
I hunt for memories, the meat's a bonus!

MD's

Post by sipsey »

Ahh, Vienna sausages.--We used to take a few cans of them , some crackers, hoop cheese, and sardines on float trips years ago growing up. Funny thing is all my Dad and Uncles ever called them was MD's--I had never read a label---Then they sent me into a country store close to our put in site one morning--the guy looked at me funny when I asked him where the MD's were---I went out side and asked my Uncle why he called them that---He said, " Boy them there is monkey d____'s", I turned a little red and slid into the bed of the pickup---

protein bars and fruit. I want to make it as natural as possible (to the area). Apples and pairs mainly. So many tree rats that me chewing on an apple is just a natural sound.

I also believe it works as a cover sent (it makes me feel better so please don't tell me different).

I stay away from oranges and bananas as I think they smell too much and are not natural to the area.

Peanuts I think are just to strong smelling.

As others have said you can't totally fool a deers smell - but with a gusting wind - with a deer just catching a piece - I feel more confident doing all I can.

Thankyou for a reliable source of feedback. This forum has a great collection of participants that all can rely upon. The response from all of you was dependable for a great belly roll
Hormel uses everything but the squeal from a hog is my understanding and not much of anything goes to waste.
and great advice for practical application...
see you all in the trophy room

Living where you do, you probably have no reason to know this, but deer absolutely love peanuts.

Peanuts are a common row crop around here, and deer mow them as they grow, and eat them after they're dug.

Your deer may not be used to them, but I guarantee it wouldn't take them long! :D

Usually dont eat on stand due to to much movement and eating may trigger the pooper to want to go and in a climber you can only go down so fast.

Sipsey, I'm right there with you. I grew up in "LA".....Lower Alabama and that brown bag had exactly what you listed. If we were lucky, we'd have some Ritz crackers with peanut butter. By the way, I went to school at "UCLA".....Upper Corner of Lower Alabama...(TROY)
