I thought this was a hunting forum

Post by hawg hunter »

well this has been bothering me for more than a few days. We've have more than one person on the state side of the border who seems to try to amaze the rest of us with his liberal political ideas. well here goes nothing. Peter can you please do something about political discussions, If this BS don't pertain to something about the great outdoors and laws that either support or take away hunting rights then flush it out of the forum. These people who try to stir the pot are getting a little out of hand. If you want to vote Dem or Rep great. The main thing is you must vote or better that you have the right to vote. It's huntin season right now so let's talk about hunting while we can before all the gun grabbin liberals get in.

This was discussed quite some time ago. The general consensus was that the Exaclibur Forum is like a giant campfire where we could discuss anything. If it was not hunting/crossbow related then the original poster must put an OT for Off Topic in th headline. That way people that did not want to read about anything but hunting or crossbows could just skip that thread.

My website forum ( http://huntingindiana.proboards52.com/index.cgi ) is set up differently in that we designated subject areas (boards) where we can talk about that given subject. I recently put a "Political Board" there to keep thsie subjects seperate where they would not clutter up the other areas. That has worked well.

I do agree about your statement of "...before all the gun grabbin liberals get in." ;)

We are moderated here with a very light hand......and that's great. Actually, I think your post serves to help moderate discussion. If others share your disapproval, and they say so, likely the political "trash talk" will abate. I don't like it, but I just ignore it.

I completely agree with abolishing the political posts, not because of any particular post but the whole politics thing as a whole.
This forum is one of very few that will tolerate political based threads, they slide through because of the easy nature of the forum in general, and people stating their political positions are taking advantage of that fact in my opinion.
I don't think the forum should be held to simply discussing outdoor related discussions but the old saying about politics and religion should hold true here just like the rest of the world. We all have lives and we are here to share them, but sometimes there are things that should be discussed in their proper place.

Problem is, if Peter or anyone else steps up and stops the posts then there is a form of behavioral editing happening, and I think they (Excalibur staff) will avoid that for obvious reasons. I can certainly respect that. It is up to the forum members to stop it, this thread is a great start.

I personally come here to get away from that part of life, to hear what my fellow members are up to and what the animals are doing in their part of the world. If I want to hear political debate I will turn on CNN.

I'll step up to the plate to agree with Pydpiper to ask those members to put their politcal agenda aside while here.

Your wish is my command, see the new "Other Topics" area just created. Now the political banter will have a home!

If you don't like a subject then just don't read it. No different from having a different section at all. It's still there!

Where is this "new area " at?

Why didnt you not just move the threads to the "new area" instead of deleteing them?

ITs still there but you don't see it unless you're in that section. If all you want to talk about is crossbow hunting then you don't need to see all the other titles. Lets see how it works and let me know.

Sorry, Woody I guess I could have moved them instead of deleting. I'll do that next time.

I don't think we need to break out into a sweat. Our Moderator is a busy guy. I don't expect he'll be on this forum like a mad man with a vacuum cleaner, gulping up every off topic that's posted.

Just having the other forum in existance will be enough deterrent to keep down the "trash talk" to a level where it won't pose a problem on here any more.

Mom had a wooden spoon, but she didn't have to use it every time we screwed up. Sometimes she even ignored a screw up just so she wouldn't have to bring out the spoon.

November 4th is the election... It will all be over then. We don't need a separate section as I see it.

Have any of you bought one of these lately. If so, where did you find the best deal. I'm about to lose control!
