I agree...it has been a bit annoying. But I know I don't have to click it if I don't care about it.

It is a hunting forum....I'd rather hear about hunting successes, accuracy problems from "shaking hands" (aka buck fever), and boo strings only lasting 1000 shots than hear about US politics. I didn't see too much about the recent CDN election on here....See my point?

Thank god for moving these threads! I have personally asked the people on many posts that this a forum was a crossbow hunting forum and they could use hundreds of political forums to voice their opinions. All I got was a rude "mind your on business" reply. I was about to contact Peter myself to see what could be done after the last debate.

Ray, a hunting forum getting polluted by politics is not "a good thing"
The third place to post stuff isn't going to last long, it will go idle once the election is over and people decide to move on. There are people on here who are only discussing politics, nothing else.
This forum is growing rapidly, and it is certainly going to need more room if people decide this is the place to air their dirty laundry or use it as their soap box to push their opinion on others who are too kind to tell them to shut up.
Like all the rest of you I have more in my life than just hunting (OK, not during hunting season), but I also have other forums I participate in regarding my other hobbies and interests. This forum is like home, and I don't mind hearing what people are up to besides hunting, but when it gets to topics like politics the whole dynamics of the place changes.
Just look at the current politics thread, Peter kindly asked it to stop and it still carries on, that is nothing but pure disrespect for those who provided this place for us. Disrespect is a pretty big issue in my books.

I prefer the idea of posting anything that pertains to crossbows, hunting (not limited to crossbows), and the great outdoors (camping, fishing, nature watchng, etc.) on the regular forum.
Any topic that has nothing to do with enjoying the outdoors (like politics) can go in the OT forum. Even a political post under certain conditions, like a need for online voting or contacting government officials concerning threats to our sports, could go on the regular forum but should be limited to actual threats and should be titled indicating content, like Help Needed - a threat to our hunting rights!

I love the open forum. If I see a topic I am not interested in, I simply do not read it. I don't read every single post that is here.

There is nothing worng with seperate forums for seperate subjects.

HOWEVER, the way the Excalibur forum is set up this is not user friendly to do such a thing.

I am still not sure where to post any political post at..

I like the old OT (Off Topic) designation in the main forum better.

If a person does not want to read an OT subject then they do not have to open it..

I'm in camp with Woody and ecoaster . . .I like the open forum. I participated in the politics forum until it got boring.

The way I see it, any topic that is discussed is good for Excalibur if it's in the Excalibur open forum. It's kind of like getting in the check-out line at the grogery store. Wow, there's a snickers bar, I'm hungry. Except, I'm strolling along in the hunting dept. and I see another interesting item like a dirty politician. Cool, I get to check out the dirty politician without leaving the store. However, if I'm not interested, I keep strolling, no big deal. It might become a big deal if we had more O/T stuff than hunting stuff.

Anyway, any topic discussed at length and detail brings people to the Excalibur website. If someone is coming solely to discuss politics, then they still get a heavy dose of Excalibur. Having the Excalibur name in front of a lot of people is a good thing from a marketing standpoint.

Politics, religion, baseball, football, deaths, sicknesses,. . . .there's a million O/Ts . . .I like to think I'm at the dinner table with my family. We talk about everything at the dinner table, nobody has ever started a food fight.

I doubt I will ever visit the O/T store . . .I'll be missing out. I got an idea . . .let's move everything over to the O/T section.
