Help Ordering Boo String

Post by cajun »

I'm getting ready to order my first Boo string. There are several choices to be made: # of strands, colors, serving, etc. What should I order?

I have a Phoenix with STS.

Thanks,

Cajun, what I did when I placed my order with Boo is tell him what my priorities were and let him decide what was best for me and my phoenix.

I told him that I never shoot over thirty yards and most of the time, twenty yards and in is the norm for me. I am also not a speed freak. In addition, I told him I wanted the most forgiving string I could get as the dreaded dry fire is always lurking in the background. I also told him I wanted the cat whiskers to try and reduce the sound. And the last thing I mentioned was I wanted a serving that wore like iron.

Boo replied and asked me if I had any color preference and I told him browns and greens or black, colors to blend into the background.

I do not have the knowledge needed to specify a string. Boo has all the knowledge regarding strings. It was a no brainer. Let him make the choice.

X3. I ordered a string not knowing a lot about them and Boo made a suggestion and that's what I ordered. Really impressed.

This topic reminds me of the saying "Like a kid in a candy shop". Soooo many choices, sooo little time.

I shot a lot of his strings doing chrony tests. My favorite I call the "bumble bee" because the strands are yellow and black, the served on whiskers are white and black w/ a smaller all black inboard a tad.

I believe they are made from Excel, but do know they are only 8-9 fps slower than FFF.

Very durable, very quiet, very Don!

Just tell Don about how you shoot. You will not be disapointed. His strings are the best money can buy. I love the ones he made for me. I'm ordering another one in Jan. when things slow down for him. You can't ask for a better guy to deal with.
