Just what I need. Another addiction.

I started hunting with a 28 pound Fred Bear bow which I still have. Used it for squirrels and grouse for years. Never could use it for deer though.

Now, Mississippi Lake, that's right near me. Just down the road from where I hunt. Do I dare go and see this guy and put down a few bucks.  I think I might.

PS
My first crossbow deer, my first buck, my first deer EVER, and my biggest deer (290 lbs) was a gift. He walked up to me and looked me in the eye from 20 yards, and waited there until I stopped shaking....10 yard recovery.

Don . . .I expect to see some mighty fine midnight shooting next time we meet up. :D
Stop on by, Sumner, and I'll send that 80 pound flatbow up for y'all to play with. It only stacks a little.
Now you're talking Grizz . . .can we throw something at those bears of yours? Hey Don . . .what do you say, a little midnight bear hunting?
Scott, you can keep your stinkin', dirty, dangerous, stupid, ugly, garbage eating, flea bitten, tick totin', scary bears! I don't want to see them in the day let alone at night! Shoot first, ask questions later!

Don, it's a pretty bad feeling when a bear walks by your treestand heading in the direction of your truck and it's only 15 minutes before dark. Hmmm... is he somewhere between me and the truck  . Better walk out with the gun loaded and your finger on the safety. NOT a good feeling.
God Bless !!!!!!!!!

Ray, that's called "pucker factor" ... and if that spirals out of control, the result is called "skid marks"! LOL

I used to shoot a Bear "Brush"recurve @ 65 lbs.---and i had to work out with springs years ago just to comfortably shoot the thing--dropped down to a Bear 55lb.--best shootin recurve i ever shot--they sure are a light tool to carry on those walkin hunts

Ive hunted and owned 5 bows started out with a Onedia Screaming Eagle. It was fast and very loud. It was very hard to keep the recurve limbs in sync. I currently own a york compound at 65lbs nice shooting but prefer to hunt with my 56# Mamba recurve very light to carry in the woods. There is just something about shooting a bow with no sights that appeals to me. Have taken many grouse, rabbits and one black bear with it. I was given an old Fred Bear recurve have never shot it or strung it for that matter. I no longer have the time to practice with my recurve to feel comfortable to shoot at big game with it so I bought my xbow. I target practice with my guns alot and find the xbow not much different other than the range I shoot at.

I took a guy to the blind to hunt the other night and a hog made a loud scarey sound about 75 yards from us right at dark and he said"Can we sit here a while?
I said NO.
He was shaking when we got to the Jeep.
Guess we should have waited.
He had a PF of about 10

talk about pucker factor-----when you walk by a hidden bobcat or lynx--and just after you pass it by a few feet---it lets out one of its bloodcurdling screeches----of course this all happens in total darkness--talk about raising the pulse rate.

I cant count the times I have had grouse break from cover under my feet when walking out at night. Makes me jump everytime.
