Why does anybody use a recoil pad on a crossbow?
There isn't any rear acting recoil-the pull is forward!
I would think that the extra length the pad adds to the stock would make it more difficult to shoulder with winter clothes on!
Just my humble opinion!

Bob V, us tall guys prefer a longer LOP, even with thick hunting clothes. A added recoil pad does just that.
Sometimes I think the world was built for 5'6" people.

Norm,I loved your reply!
I can understand why you would want the extended stock.
I happen to be 5'6",and guess what?
Have you ever found a pair of pants with a 28" inseam"
That's what I wear, and the shortest you will ever see is 30",so nothing works for me off the shelf!
I guess that resolves the recoil issue too!!LOL!

Norm,I used to say that an uppercut to the kneecap of all you tall guys brings things to a level playing field!
And to Dutch, seriously think about getting yourself an STS for vibration.
Best investment I ever made!
I put one on my Phoenix, and the sound and vibration difference is worth the money.
My son has an identical Phoenix, and all you have to do to see and feel the difference is fire one right after the other.

Exocet recoil pad

Post by bbbwb »

My goodness how violent things turned as a result of an innocent inquiry re a recoil pad kicking in knee caps etc. hahahaha
However to the point of my inquiry ---- Bob ---- I have not shot a xbow with STS but would like to know what is so beneficial about them and how does this improve the "hunt"??? All the extras that are available may be nice to fancy up things but each add more weight to the xbow. So that is why I am inquiring.

i am 5'9" and the stocks are too long during late winter with my hunting clothes on. a stock one inch shorter would be nice.
