That's the author in him coming out. First I think he deserves a little rest but with the updates the last couple months we can still patiently wait for the finally.

congrats on finding him.. its been a long journey and im sure you are wore out over this also
Congratulations Mike on recovering your deer!
Hard to believe that with so little time left, you managed to connect with the buck that's been haunting you (and us!) for so long. Thanks for taking us along on your quest. Looking forward to hearing more of how it all went down.

Congratulations...
Your taxidermist should be able to provide you with a new cape. They are available at about $100 extra.

Congratulations Mike.
So happy for you. It has been a long quest and I am thankful to you for bringing us on it with you. It is to bad about the yots but you did the right thing. Get a good night's sleep I can't wait to hear the rest of the story.

Glad y'all found that buck, Mike.wabi wrote: Sorry to hear of the coyote damage, but as Woody said your taxidermist should be able to provide a cape if one is needed.
I'm sure everyone has their own ideas about the mount, and I'm sure you do too, but here's my two cents worth (valued appropriately!
If it were me, I wouldn't want a different cape because it wouldn't be the image of the buck I hunted! In cape replacements, I never can get past the fact that it isn't the original deer that inspired the mount.
It seems to me that if coyotes tore your buck up so bad the cape was ruined, then a European skull mount would be perfectly appropriate and would represent what really happened.
That's just the way I think. I know you'll do what you want, as you should!
As for pics, I rather enjoy real-life, on-the-scene recovery shots ... even when the result is less than desirable. I live in the midst of nature, and see it's harshness frequently. To me, what happened to your deer was perfectly natural. Of course, it's up to you what you show us, and we'll be content with that.
Hope you've had a nice rest during your own recovery!
