I got a call this morning at about 5am. It wasn't the call you want to get. My grampa passed away. It has hit me pretty hard. I've shed a good number of tears, and I'm sure I will shed a good number more.
I owe a lot to my grandfather. The love of the outdoors. My passion for hunting. My love for ironwork. My love for my wife. Values instilled. Memories to be cherished.
I feel the need to go for a walk with his shotgun. A tribute.
I love you grampa!!!
From the good old days.

You can take the man out of the woods but you can't take the woods out of the man.

Go for that walk with his shotgun... it'll be good even if you feel all torn up inside.
Will say a prayer and be thinking of you and your family as you grieve the loss of your grandfather.

My Grandfather taught me all I know about the great outdoors also. He passed about 5 years ago and I still have not gotten over it. There are a lot of people I did spend more time with but the times with him I remember with much greater detail. He was larger than life. He is still with me every step I take in the woods-I make sure of that. I can relate.
