tracer for xbow
any one ever used? the show it as a 1/2 moon instead of flat. i like the tracer on my compound especially for those dusk shots. looks cool and makes finding the arrow easier and the hit site. (passthru ofc)
Hunter at heart, fish in the off deer season. Month of Feb i have off from the outdoors, wife always wants chores then. She's a sportsman's widow
I used Lumenoks for the first time this year. Flat - same as a normal rear insert. They add a little rear weight and change the FOC a bit, but I didn't notice too much change out to 30 yards. They performed well. I Shot a nice buck a little high, and coud see the Lumenok embedded in his back as he was on the ground. Very bright and well lit. They were $10 each, so it makes the total cost per bolt quite a bit more, but worth it for me.

i used the luminocks b4. didnt care much for em. the tracers flash after 10 seconds makes em easier to spot, and their brighterkorey99 wrote:I used Lumenoks for the first time this year. I use the tracer, but it is the orginal version before they were bought out by Easton.
I like it very much and I have never had an arrow go off without lighting up (after positioning the magnet correctly). It also never seemed to change the arrow flight either, but I only use 2216 arrows with feathers & 100gr heads. My tracers are flat nocks and not the Half moon. |I believe you can convert the half moon to flat if you need to.
Hope this helps.

I used them as well,the flat one's.
Now that easton has bought them I cant get replacement batteries so they want me to buy all new one's.
Not gonna do it but I do like lighted nocks.
G5 has some for very bows but none for x bow yet.
They work on the shot and then you tap 3 times to turn off.
No magnets,no pulling it in and out just shoot and tap.

my concern is that it will help with spotting the arrow entry point on the animal on the shot; finding the arrow on the ground after a passthrough; and visualizing the trajectory in order to learn the crossbow hunting skill better.
and it is cool to watch.. even more cool to photograph... makes me sort of flash back to a different time and space.. uh place..
I doknow that I would not think of shooting a silver flame broadhead without a lighted nock and I would want it to last a long time, lit, too.. those two on a high end arrow would represent a lot of beer and wine in equivalent value... would not want to lose them... I know I lose beer and wine pretty quick that is why I would buy the lighted nocks over alcohol.. most times.

Ive used the luminoks before. I find that they work well and like other have said, its cool to watch. I can tell if I need to wait out a deer a little longer judging by where I hit. I cant see that with unlit bolts. I imagine that a bright arrow wrap would act like a luminok to some degree.

Yes the modification would need to be done before you go hunting. I was once told that you could file them flat easily. If I was going to do it, I would place the file flat and hole the arrow 90 degrees and move arrow. I believe that would be the easist way to make the nock flat and 90 degrees to the arrow shaft. Then use fine emery cloth to smooth the edges.bassboater wrote:by convert u mean field modify. grind em down to flat?Tom wrote:I use the tracer, but it is the orginal version before they were bought out by Easton.

You can get the batteries after market and alot cheaper then through these companies. I will look for the link to the site but it might take me some time with the new computer.I used them as well, the flat one's.

Wow!!!!!!!! what do you know, I found it in near record time. It might not be the excact battery, but read the model of your battery and look for it if it isn't

We reviewed all of them a while back
you can find the tests here:
http://www.crossbow-review.com/ReviewPa ... _page1.htm
The picture you see in the opening of the article was taken shooting an Excalibur Equinox !
and then
http://www.crossbow-review.com/ReviewPa ... _page1.htm
http://www.crossbow-review.com/ReviewPa ... Tracer.htm
In the end I agree : they are fun to shoot and extremely useful in troubleshooting flight when used with a slow shutter speed setting camera

thanks for the links. im probably gonna go with tracer. I like the flashing after 30 seconds. its all i shoot on compound. Its way too neat to watch especially when you do a LONG shot thru a field.emmevi wrote:you can find the tests here:

Saxman I bought 4 of the last 6 the original company had left in stock just before they sold out to Easton. He was very good to deal with, he even had to reship the product to me but made sure I got it and was happy with the product. I currently have 2 installed in arrows and 2 still in packages for a later date.
About the link I posted, I was not sure if that was the exact battery (was not at home to check battery #), but I knew it was close and that they did sell the correct one.
Hope everyone gets the info they need .
