Peep and Pin Shooters

Post by awshucks »

Thought I'd start this thread for the folks in Pa that are looking for info since they get xbows next season, but no scopes above 1x which I'm not familiar w/ any.

I know it seems to me like every Excal I've put p&p on wanted them in the same location to be 'on target'. Says a lot about the quality of the product.

I've noticed the pin base wants to be just shy of flush to the inside, maybe a thumbnail thickness.

Seems like w/ pin dead on at 20, the black post below is on real close at 30.

Kinda hoping some of you P&P shooters will chime in for the benefit of our Pa brethern? gotta confess I'm kinda curious what some of you have come up w/ myself, including any multiple pin sights which I find kind of cluttered personally. Thanks!!

on my phoenix front pin is about 3/32" shy of the cutout as you said. even with my poor eyesight i can get 2 1/2" groups at 20 yds. and hit a playing card at 30 yds. all day long. i drilled out the peep to 5/16" so i can get abit of light i need early in the mornings.

FOr the peep site shooters-you can put the scope rail on your bow and add one of the many easily available AR-15 rear sights. I like the one that has 4 different sized peep holes which i use on an APEX target bow.

Jim, what do you use for a pin then? Does by chance that height combo come out close enough to stock peep, one can use stock f/o pin? Tia.

on the peep on my old xbow, i used some higlo paint, orange to pick it up easier, since the front pins were just red tipped i higlowed them as well with orange.
worked out rather well. GL.

I use the standard front sight that comes with the bow. I will try to get a picture one of these days-I don't own a digital camera but my wife does.
