New crossbow shooters!
Hey guys, I've recently had quite a few requests from new crossbow shooters and I hope I have advised everyone with the same suggestion. Stick with your factory endless loop string for a few months and shoot the bow a whole lot. The factory endless loop Dacron string is somewhat forgiving in the event of a dry-fire.
The sequence of cocking, safety on, loading the arrow, aiming, safety off and firing is something that should be done over and over with no interruptions. This repetition should be done over and over until it becomes second nature but do not take this sequence for granted. In my experience of a few dry-fires and speaking to a few others the highest chance of a dry-fire is when this sequence is interrupted. A dry-fire is humiliating, embarrassing and some what dangerous. A few guys have been whipped in the face by the string as it comes off and the odd limb has been damaged. The last thing you want is to get hurt and the second last thing you want is to have your bow nonoperational until the limbs get replaced.
Soooooo again, stick with your original Factory endless loop Dacron string until you are confident that a dry-fire is unlikely to happen.

I welcome your advice Boo, I have about 300 shots so far no dryfires. When I received my exocet it came with 3 strings I've been shooting it with the one that was on it when I received it. I think it might be an upgraded string off some sort. I plan to put one of the other strings on so I can see how it fires, I also think I might want to change my brace hieght
after reading some older post. I'm also thinking about getting the sts system.

whispers... even some of us that have been shooting for years and years have a screwup from time to time
the more you shoot, the better the odds of a dryfire;)
but everyone should stick with the factory strings untill they get use to the bow.. most are scared of the xbow for the first week before they get use to it
