Sorry to hear about it.
I had a Bichon for 16 years who was our "child" for half of that until our first born came along. She collapsed one night at home and I gave her CPR for 15 min. while my wife drove us to the vet. She died in my arms despite all attempts to save her. Terrible night for our family.
We now have a chocolate lab that we love and adore who brings us total joy but we will always cherish the memories we had with our little Emily.
Even comes a time when you want your own kids out of the house but not so with a dog.
Give it time and remember all the good times.
