Crankaroo?

Crankaroo?
I was struck by an SUV while crossing the street earlier this year. My left arm was almost ripped from my body. It looks like I will end up with a permanent disability that will prevent me from being able to cock a crossbow with both hands. Is the Crankeroo usable in the field?

I am in the same boat. I lost the use of my right hand permanently. I have a crakaroo but find it too slow for practice. I made a tiny modification to the butt plate so that I can use a rope cocking aid with one arm. I picked up the instructions for it on the main excalibur web page under the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's).
I will try and find the cord for my camera and post some pics of my bow.

When I first started using the Crankaroo I thought the process would really be cumbersome. After alot of time shooting at targets it got very easy and quick. Amazing how that happens without realizing it.bstout wrote:Using a Crankaroo takes a little time sort of like learning to ride a bicycle. It keeps getting easier every time you use it. After a few thousand shot (goes by quickly) you'll be an ace at it. You will have learned how to use it quickly and quietly.
I really like your pictures HW. That's a really cool way to use the rope cocking aid with one hand. Really good photo's.
HW, I agree. nice photos.

Yes, it had.HW wrote:I guess the fog had lifted before I made it over to the island.I've seen that bow before somewhere.
I figured someone would ask by now if using the cocking rope by just one hand would effect the accuracy. It didn't for HW. HW is DEADLY accurate. Pulling from just one side of the rope made no difference at all.
I'd rather wear out than rust out.

I have a bad left shoulder, even after surgery. I love my crankaroo. I can cock the crossbow with it easily under 10 seconds every time. I could never use a rope cocker anymore. You can shoot all day and never feel a thing with the crank.
The placement of the string for both the rope cocker and crank are the same. The advantage of the rope afterward is faster cocking (IF YOU CAN DO IT!!!) but it only takes a few seconds to crank it back and you can hold the bow in ANY position in ANY situation or confined space and cock the bow exactly the same way for consistency with the Crankaroo.
I would not go back to a rope cocker now even if I could.
