NCStar Scope?

Post by fitpays »

Ok guys, My firearms all have either Leupold or Zeiss scopes on them, so I know that you get what you pay for. However, I have read good reviews about this scope on ebay, and it seems perfect for the application. I wanted to get some thoughts from you guys on it before ordering it though. Let me know what you think of it????? Also, I have never owned an illuminated reticle scope before. I am wondering if you have to have the reticle lit in order to see it? Will it appear black just like a normal scope, then illuminate when powered on? OR, will I have to turn it on every time I want to use it? I would like to think it would appear normal until turned on. There is very little info on it though. It comes in either a "rangefinder" reticle, or a "mil dot" that would be perfect for what i am doing. Also, I am shooting a brand new Bow Tech Strykeforce Crossbow. Let me get your feedback. I will post this on another forum as well....

The reticules will be visible all the time, regardless of the scope being "on" or not.
Look in to that scope before shelling out the cash, I have heard less than desirable reviews. I see a dealer at every local gun show, they look great and are certainly priced right, but I have heard of problems with them. The do have some cool looking scopes with nice options.

I've owned a couple NC Star scopes.
They always told me if you can't say anything good about something it's best to say nothing, so I can't say anything.

hello if you are planning to put this on a cross bow you will not be very happy .the ao is set for long range .most crossbow scopes are set for very close range to get a clear picture at 10 to 40 yards .i have bushnell and tasco red dots and both work very wellon crossbows .this scope is set up for rifles and will not have a very clear image at short range .my 2 cents DUTCH

Not sure what 'NC' product you are considering, but I've had a little experience w/ two halo sights, a Bushnell high buck and a NC for about a fifth of Bushnell price.

The only bad thing I noticed about the NC was it had tiny slotted screws to lock the ball detent adj for W & E, that when tightened, threw the zero way off. They weren't needed, imho.

There was one reticule choice that was a dot in a circle, that was 'on' for me, dot at 20, bottom of circle at 30. Your results may vary.

Better find out if that scope will handle reverse recoil. A lot of rifle scopes have trouble when mounted on an air rifle or crossbow, because of reverse recoil.

i have decided against that thing. i don't need the novelty of the laser. i can always put one on it separately if i choose to. i am considering either the truglo 4x32 or the simmons 4x32. they are both available in camo. the truglo comes with rings but i read that they are too low for the application. the simmons is about $50 and i can get rings pretty affordable for this application.

any feedback on the tru glo versus the simmons?

"Better find out if that scope will handle reverse recoil."
To bad there isn't a way to check out that myth. The recoil of a crossbow is NOT sufficient to break the reticule on anything but junk. Now a heavy spring/pistol pellet gun, that's another story. But they really slam forward.
