I don't think so . . .we exchanged a couple of pm's. I think he was concerned about his set-up.

Got it ... just seemed strange he didn't reply ?

I'm sure with the advice he gets from this forum group , he will have better luck , next time out ...

I lost two the first year with the Exomax . . .I thought I could set up the Exomax the same way I used to set up my Bear Whitetail Hunter compound. However, the extra speed causes issues with fixed blade broadheads that are not exactly balanced(or the blades aren't exactly straight). I did have two Wasps that the tip was cut off center. Anyway, I found that you had to be very careful with spin testing and making sure there was NO WOBBLE. Wasn't good enough to just put the arrow on the spinner, I had to spin it off the tip too. The other issue is hunting in thick brush . . .if you are hunting in thick brush, then a deer going 100 yards after the shot is very hard to find unless the blood trail is large. I found that the bigger cut broadheads were a better choice for me. As a ground hunter, I don't get as good a blood trail because of the angle of cut. So switching to the 2" cut was a must, not an really an option.

Be careful

Post by cline »

After much success at recovering deer I have had a couple deer in the last few years that were lost because I only clipped one of the lungs. Both deer were blowing blood out one side of their nose as apparant by the blood trail. I recently read an article stating that the majority of deer struck in only one lung are not recovered. I thought both were dead deer because I knew I had hit them in the vitals. Be careful of shooting angles and be sure to catch both lungs or better yet a heart shot. I also read that deer struck through the diaphram are almost always recovered. I would be interested in the results of sending an arrow into the vitals of a deer quartering hard away and catching the diaphram. I might prefer that shot based on my recent experience.

Wes . . .I haven't heard anything lately. Hopefully, he read this forum and got his answers or suggestions and is trying them out. I would like to get more feed back from him and see what adjustments he made and if they worked.

Maybe he will check back in during the season.
