This serving broke today and I have been aware from reading this forum that this is a common problem.
I have a few questions:
1) are the serving materials used today the same as in the past; are they the basic nylon type?
2) Isn't there a better material to use for this purpose seeing that it is a big problem with crossbows?
3) wouldn't one of the spectra fiber super braided type fishing lines work for this purpose?
Well I will find out. I served my string today with 80lb "offshore angler" super braided line, which has about the same diameter as the serving that broke.
I did the scissor test on both, and the regular serving cut easily with one cut, while the spectra fiber needed a half dozen trys to cut it.
We will see what happens. . .
