Not straight. The shorter the vane , the more twist you need. Straight isn't good for broadheads at all.

I use the helical, but, the 4 degree works just as well.

I don't have a left or right preference . . .it just determines the direction of the spin. If you were shooting one of those broadheads that spin, like the Crimson Talons, then you would want to fletch in the same direction as the spin of the broadhead.

I went with the right helical. Mainly by default . . .it's the only one Bass Pro had at the time.

I didn't know they sold replacement arms . . .good to know, I may need some new arms before too long. I got glue all over mine.

I just want to point out that I use the 2" Blazers . . .the shorter the vane the more twist needed to get the same amount of spin as a longer vane with less twist. The issue you run into with helical combined with long vanes is the spin creates noise and slows down your arrow. So, if you get too twisty with a long vane, then your down range speed will suffer some.

Trade-offs . . .archery is full of them. :)

I would use 4 degree with the longer vanes and the helical with the shorter vanes.

I use 4º offset for most of my fletching.
I also have a set of 8º arms for my Arizona E-Z fletch, but they can create a clearance issue with anything other than short fletching.

R or L doesn't matter unless you're fletching with feathers and shooting a traditional bow using your hand as the arrow shelf. Then an archer needs to fletch the opposite wing of the hand he draws the bow with (right hand draw uses left wing feathers). The feathers will be more likely to cut your hand if done opposite of the recommendation. And yes, I have tried it and been cut.

That was the recommendation I got from Bohning. However, I agree with wabi . . .4 degree is a good all around fletch.
