Butt & Cheek Piece

Post by kanehill »

Just added the Excalibur butt extender and a cheek piece to the stock of my Ibex.
Makes for a great feel and faster on target to the scope.
Maybe this should be standard equipment? :)

I feel it is inappropriate to use the words "butt" and "cheek" in the same sentance-- :?

When it comes to speed, accuracy and dependability, Excalibur crossbows are second to none. So I can't foresee much, if any improvement in those areas for the years to come.

However, where I feel there is room for improvement is in the design of the stocks. With the exception of a deeper fore-end, camo design and colour, the plastic stocks have remained essentially the same and "lacking" for about fifteen years.

I was hoping that with the introduction of the thumb-hole stocks, we'd see a beefier "cheek" and "comb" on the stocks. I must say I was somewhat disappointed when they stayed the same and the LOP was shorten instead, necessitating the use of an "add-on" optional cheek-piece and extenders

I suppose if Excaliburs were perfect, there wouldn't be anything left to improve.
In a sense, I'm relieved that the stocks have stayed the same, as it means there's no sense or need to replace my current Exomag and Exocet 175. :D

well I think they should not come standard with theses options as they are not nessary and would only increse the cost of the bow  like anything they should remain a option for the buyer to choose. Its like them only building the equinox ONLY we as hunters like to have our own options and we all have of preferences so i think we should leave well enough alone and leave it up to the buyer as to what options he/ she desires kinda like Gm only building the luxery models only with all the bells and whistles some people do not require hqeated seats cruise control on star ect just my thoughts :D

I like the length of my Vortex just the way it is but did think the cheek rest needed something so I made one out of 1" inside abs flex pipe and painted it beige.I have since put camo tape on it.
And it works very well.
