Tree stands are great and I have been using them since I was a kid. But everyone needs to remember to wear there safety strap whenever you hunt. Too many hunters get hurt or killed without them each year.
Now that is one HAPPY looking girl. And good looking in camo too!

Teach Your Family How To Hunt So You Don't Have To Hunt For Your Family
I find myself setting stands at the minimum height to get the job done as I get older. I've found sometimes 8 - 10' is plenty of height, and just because a ladder stand comes with 3 or 4 sections of ladder doesn't mean you have to use them all.
I'm proud of you Mon! I used to have the same fear when I was younger so I just avoided tree stands period. I did the same thing that you did. I just took my time and stayed calm. It wasn't long before I bought my first climber and really started killing a lot of bucks from above. Again, congratulations!!! BTW; "I've got a Mansion" .
It's funny because I just recently moved from a latter to
a ground blind and it's strange how close deer come to me now.
I thought I'd give it a try because you and others hunt from ground blinds and
it was the only way I could get a better shot in the little field I hunt.
The only thing that needs to be nervous - is the buck that's gonna walk below you. Nice vantage point there, looks good.
The more you sit in it, the more relaxed you will become. The movement of the trees still gets to me, and I imagine the tree falling over, and squirrels attacking, and termites eating the base, and lots of things. But.....only that buck needs to be nervous.

Ive hunted from ground blind, tripod, box blind, climber, hang on stand and ladder. The ladder is by far my favorite. You have a greater field of view. It took me a couple of times to get used to it too but now I would take it over any of the others.
My Exocet comes tomorrow and I will get to hunt with it for the first time this weekend. Im going to try stalking as well as stand hunting with it. I will let y'all know how it turns out. Wish me luck!
